A Bangkok Day Trip — The Local Way
One of the things we love about staying at Baan Paan Sook is that Bangkok can be the starting point for discovering a completely different side of Thailand.
Today, we left Baan Paan Sook by private car and headed to Tha Chalom, a charming old riverside community in Samut Sakhon.
Tha Chalom — by pedal tricycle
Instead of driving straight to the next destination, we hopped on a traditional pedal tricycle and rode through the neighborhood to the railway station. Slow, simple, and much more fun — especially with kids!
Local train to Mae Klong Railway Market
From there, we took the local train to Mae Klong, home of the famous Railway Market.

We explored the market, found some fresh coconut drinks, and waited for the highlight — watching the vendors pull back their awnings as the train passed right through the middle of the market.
Rowing through Damnoen Saduak
After Mae Klong, we continued by private car to the pier at Damnoen Saduak Floating Market.
Here we changed the pace again — this time into a traditional rowing boat.
No engine, no rush.
Just slowly cruising along the canals, passing local houses, boats and market life from water level.
In one day, we travelled by car → pedal tricycle → local train → car → rowing boat.
For us, this is what makes exploring Thailand special.
The destination is only part of the story — how you get there can be an experience of its own.
