For the Loy Krathong Festival, we made our own Krathong (Floating Basket)

Traditionally, the Krathong is made from natural materials like banana leaves 🍃 & banana trunks 🪵, and is decorated with flowers 🌹, incense sticks 🪔, and candles 🕯. These baskets are floated on water during the Loy Krathong Festival as a symbolic gesture to honor the water goddess, release bad luck, and make wishes for the future.

The banana leaves, trunk and flowers were harvested from our very own backyard at Kuang Homestay. Banana leaves & trunk were dried for a couple of hours in the sun, and we commenced our basket-making experience in the evening.
