A Memory We Will Never Forget
September 25–28, 2026
The Great Flood in Bangkok and Surrounding Provinces
These four days will remain a memory that the Canalis team will never forget.
As severe flooding affected Bangkok and many provinces, our colleagues continued to make their way to work—walking through water that rose from ankle level, to mid-calf, and in some areas as high as the waist or hips.
Some had to leave their vehicles behind.
One of our Chevrolet vehicles broke down on the first day, September 26, after driving through heavy rain and deep floodwater at 4:00 a.m. to get to work.
A staff member's motorcycle was also flooded and had to be left parked across from the hotel.
No one was forced to come to work.
They came because their colleagues could not make it. In reality, many of them should not have had to come at all, because their own homes were also affected by the flooding.
They walked through the water.
They found rides with local people.
They brought their uniforms and changed at the hotel.
Some losses are unavoidable when we choose the word “duty.”
The colleagues who could not come never asked anyone to take their place. The team simply carried on, with the same people working together, helping one another, understanding each other's situation and showing genuine compassion.
And somehow, even in the middle of such a difficult situation, they continued to work with smiles, energy and pride in the responsibilities in front of them.
Our Sales Team — Beyond Their Duty
During the flooding, our hotel continued to welcome tour groups every day.
Our Sales team stayed behind and worked alongside the restaurant team, sometimes until 3:00 a.m., helping serve meals and deliver food to guests' rooms.
12:00 midnight: Flights landed and guests travelled to the hotel by bus.
1:00 a.m.: The bus arrived at Canalis and guests began checking in.
2:00–2:30 a.m.: Set meals were prepared and delivered to more than 40 rooms, with 4–8 dishes per room.
3:00 a.m.: The restaurant team finished their shift, while our Sales team was still carrying plates, one by one, from the restaurant to each guest room.
5:30 a.m.: Breakfast service began.
6:00 a.m.: All 226 rooms' guests came down for breakfast—extremely hungry.
Throughout the flood crisis, almost nothing was available for purchase at the 7-Eleven in front of the hotel or in the surrounding area, except essential supplies.
So breakfast became more than just a hotel service. It became something our guests truly depended on.
Protecting Our Guests and Our People
As professionals in the hospitality industry, we continued to do everything we could for every airline crew and every Thai guest who needed accommodation.
For guests who had to extend their stays in order to evacuate from flooded homes, we kept rooms available.
We also reserved some rooms for families of our employees, especially those with young children and relatives whose homes were severely affected by the flooding.
We simply had to do our best.
We are also deeply grateful to the many guests who understood our situation and accepted rooms that were temporarily awaiting renovation, including rooms where water had entered through the glass and could not be repaired in time.
Their understanding meant a great deal to our entire team.
Transportation During the Flood
On September 25, 2026, Grab, LINE MAN and taxis suspended their services in many areas.
Canalis therefore had to deploy more than 20 vans to transport guests to and from Suvarnabhumi Airport and locations around the airport.
By 12:00 noon on September 27, all vans had to stop operating because the floodwater had reached the engine level.
Some families had no choice but to travel to the airport in the open back of a pickup truck belonging to our Head of Human Resources, simply so they could reach the departure terminal in time.
Photo shared with permission from the owner.
At 1:00 p.m. on September 27, our management team arranged a 44-seat bus at THB 30,000 per day to continue transporting guests to and from the airport and help ensure that they could catch their flights safely and on time.
More Than a Hotel
Reliability is not built in one night.
It is built through every difficult moment when people choose to stand together.
At Canalis Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel, Bangkok, we have always believed that every person staying with us—our guests, our colleagues and their families—deserves to be cared for as one of our own.
During these unforgettable days, we did what we could, with professionalism, compassion and determination.
We may not have been able to stop the flood.
But we could choose how we responded to it.
And we chose to stand together.

Taking care of every life under our roof, as we would take care of our own family.
