Blue Bluff Beach is back open again! Come cool off and have a picnic at the Blue Bluff Recreation Area. This time, the restrooms are open. If you forgot a lifejacket, you can borrow one from those hanging at the bulletin board. Just return it when you are done!

There is some driftwood along the shoreline that needs to be cleared out, so be mindful of those piles. We will get those cleared out as soon as we can.

The recreation area is open from 8 am - 8 pm everyday. No glass containers, pets, or alcohol is allowed in the area.

Please do your part to help us all have a safe and happy Independence Day this weekend. Share this water safety message with your friends to show your appreciation for the difficult job first responders do!

As much as we all love seeing the Columbus, MS Fire and Rescue Department Dive Team ready for action in this picture...

We want YOU to take action to keep you or your family from seeing them this weekend! Simple actions such as wearing life jackets and ignition kill switches, having a designated driver, and not swimming in undesignated swimming areas can save your or a loved one’s life. Please think twice before going out on the water without considering how to stay safe despite the hazards. We have experienced an extreme amount rainfall in the watershed of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway this week. This high water will make the waterway more swift and treacherous for recreators throughout the weekend. Extreme crowding on the waterway is anticipated. Crowding makes it easier to have an accident. Please do your part to help us all have a safe and happy Independence Day this weekend!

We also want to take a minute to give a huge “THANK YOU” to our first responders along the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. We appreciate the difficult job that you do! If you want to show them your appreciation, please share this post to spread the message of water safety to your friends!

Important reminders for the holiday weekend!

Important reminders for the holiday weekend!

The long July 4th weekend is almost here! We’re looking forward to our visitors coming to enjoy themselves over the next several days! But as a reminder, please note that all playgrounds, group pavilions, swim beaches, and the spray ground remain closed at this time, due to local health reports indicating increases in COVID-19 in the surrounding counties.

The health and safety of visitors and Project staff is our number one concern. As part of our safety precautions, Corps of Engineers sanitation crews are regularly cleaning facilities, and any facilities not on the current cleaning schedule will remain closed to ensure public safety. Please remember to keep social distancing in mind this weekend.

We hope you and your family enjoy a safe and memorable holiday weekend! And please remember “LIFE JACKETS WORN…NOBODY MOURNS!”

If you are coming camping with us, be prepared to swap fireworks for fireflies! Please leave your fireworks at home! 😊
