TxVFW proudly recognizes June 12 as Women Veterans Recognition Day.
On June 12, 1948, President Harry S. Truman signed the Women's Armed Services Integration Act, allowing women to serve as permanent members of the United States Armed Forces. While women have answered our nation's call throughout American history, this landmark legislation formally recognized their place in the military, helping to pave the way for future generations of service members. In 2017, Texas joined approximately 16 other states in honoring women veterans on this day of observance, commemorating the anniversary of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act.

Today, we honor the courage, sacrifice, leadership, and dedication of the women who have served and continue to serve in our military. Their contributions have strengthened our Armed Forces, defended our freedoms, and inspired generations of Americans.

Women Veterans are the fastest-growing segment of the Veteran population, yet their stories are too often untold. On this Women Veterans Day, we encourage all Texans to recognize the women Veterans in their communities, learn their stories, and thank them for their service.

🚨 IMPORTANT SCHEDULE UPDATE 🚨

We want to be transparent with our fans, players, families, and supporters regarding this weekend's game against the Odessa Drillers.

The game originally scheduled for June 6th has been moved to Sunday, June 7th at 7:00 PM CST.

This change was made due to the venue hosting a PBR event prior to our game. The arena floor was covered with dirt for the rodeo, and the venue was unable to complete the dirt removal process in time for kickoff as originally scheduled.

This was a facility scheduling issue and was outside the control of both the Abilene Mambas and the Odessa Drillers organizations.

While we know schedule changes can be frustrating, the safety of the players and providing the best possible game experience must come first. Rather than risk playing on an arena floor that was not fully converted back to football specifications, the decision was made to move the game by one day.

We appreciate the cooperation of the Odessa Drillers organization, the venue staff, our players, and all of our supporters as we worked through this situation.
