It's spring in Abingdon--good weather for biking on the VA Creeper Trail. Lots of shows at the Barter Theatre: Always... Patsy Cline and Pickleball are playing now; Savannah Sipping Society and The Da Vinci Code are coming in May. Dining out in Abingdon gives you lost of choices from multiple options at The Commons to sit-down upscale at The Tavern and Rain, plus favorites like 128 Pecan, Dwyane & Co., and JJ's Sports Bar and Restaurant--and those are just a few of our offerings. March is here, and spring is around the corner. The weather is warming up, and the Barter Theatre will have shows soon. Spend a night or two with us and see Barter’s production of “The Three Musketeers” starting March 14th on Gilliam Stage (main theatre), or “Pickleball” at Smith Theatre beginning March 21st. Warmer weather will allow for biking or walking on the VA Creeper Trail and enjoying the outfoors, and Abingdon also has a variety of options for a great meal—whether you want homey and cadual or more upscale and fancy, our fine restaurants cover it all.

Heading into the late fall/early winter holiday season. Make sure you get your tickets for the Barter Theatre before they are gone--
How the Grinch Stole Christmas at Gilliam Stage, and The Innkeeper's Wife at Smith Theatre. The weather is turning colder, but Abingdon has a variety of Antique stores, Boutique shops, and restaurants for any taste, plus the William King Museum. The Creeper Trail is open from Abingdon to Damascus for diehard bikers. Come and enjoy our quaint little town decked out for Christmas.

October is almost over, and the temperatures are going lower. Most days are still warm enough for a ride on the Creeper Trail. Barter Theatre Fall productions are winding down--one more week to see Anne of Green Gables, Deathtrap, or Murder for Two. The Christmas shows start in mid-November--How the Grinch Stole Christmas at the Gilliam Stage and The Innkeeper's Wife at the Smith Theatre across the street. Time to make your plans for a visit to Abingdon during the Thanksgiving through Christmas season.

October is rapidly approaching--still time to see "Anne of Green Gables" and "Death Trap" at the Barter Theatre, and "Murder for Two" is at the smaller Smith Theatre. Leaves will start to turn soon, and a bike ride on the Virginia Creeper Trail will be exploding with color. Make plans to spend a weekend, a weeknight, or anytime you can get away, enjoying Abingdon's fine restaurants, theatre, and bike trail, and staying at Shavers of Abingdon B & B.

A little taste of Fall is in the air for a few days, but summer isn't quite over --the temperatures will be back in the 80's by the weekend. Fall shows are starting at the Barter Theatre--get tickets now to see "Anne of Green Gables" the musical. Good biking weather for those who want to bike the VA Creeper Trail (Abingdon to Damascus)-- we are located a mile from the Abingdon Bike Shop and Trailhead. Still have limited availability for Bristol NASCAR weekend, Sept. 12-14--double occupancy room $300 (plus tax) for 2 night stay including breakfast.

Where has the time gone? Here we are in the middle of summer!! If you haven't already, start making plans to come to Abingdon and ride the Creeper Trail this fall when the leaves are turning--plenty of availability left at Shavers B & B--(reminder: Trail is only open from Abingdon to Damascus at this time--no definite timeframe for reopening the Damascus to White Top portion yet). If you are looking for summer fun in Abingdon, the Highlands Festival begins July 25 and runs through August 3rd. I have some availability for most of the Festival, through July 31st. (I am booked up August 1-3 due to the MLB game at Bristol Motor Speedway). Our incredible Barter Theatre has two great shows running through mid-August--Disney's Frozen and also
A Few Good Men.

Spring is here! Flowers are blooming, the temperatures are rising, the Abingdon to Damascus part of the VA Creeper Trail is open to walk or bike, and the Barter Theatre is in full swing. Abingdon also has many coffee shops, restaurants, a winery, and a brewery—and weekends and some weeknights offer live entertainment at several of these venues. Come and visit—and if you choose to stay with me, you will get a home cooked breakfast with many locally sourced foods and baked goods.

Winter has really arrived in Abingdon—and the cold temps coming next week will likely keep the snow around for awhile. But, warmer temps are coming and spring will be here before you know it. Time to plan a weekend getaway in March or April when things start to turn green and spring flowers are in bloom. Check the Barter Theatre website for upcoming shows, and consider a nice dinner at one of our many excellent restaurants. The Abingdon to Damascus section of the Creeper trail is available to bike or walk as well, weather permitting.
