Today, Sunday, May 31, at Bascom Lodge:
Music with Jack Swindlehurst
Jack grew up listening to music borrowed from the local library in Middletown, Connecticut – the Kinston Trio, the Chad Mitchell Trio, Beethoven, the Smothers Brothers and the Beatles. They all influenced Jack's early creative drive to write songs of love and life. Some 50 years and 70 songs later, Jack still performs a few early pieces along with recent original works.
Jack has a CD out called "Gotta Catch It 'For' I Lose It".

Music by Remsberg & Mulherrin!

North Adams musicians Rich Remsberg and Mark Mulherrin will perform on [Date] at [time], at [location], [address].

The two guitarists play music from the era of 78 rpm records. Remsberg describes himself as the responsible player and Mulherrin as the inventive one. “Mark’s playing is a sophisticated anarchy that works off of my steady reliability,” Remsberg said. The combination makes for a freshness, at once deeply respectful of the original music yet new and honest.

With a repertoire ranging from Hoagy Carmichael and Duke Ellington to the Sons of the Pioneers and Ukulele Ike, the duo draws it repertoire primarily from Remsberg’s collection of 5,000 78 rpm records.

“These old records have such warmth in them. The challenge – and the pleasure – is in finding nuggets that work for us. Mark’s and my musical approaches are quite different, but what we share is getting lost in the deep spatial sound of the lost America that echoes in old records.”

The duo rarely performs in public and has no recordings, so this is a rare opportunity to hear them.
