As many of our friends, family, and VAAST community know, our home is not just a bed‑and‑breakfast. It’s where we care for our loved ones, too. Over the past few weeks, our family has entered a new and tender stage in Katie’s Alzheimer’s journey. Her condition has declined, and we have begun hospice care to ensure she is comfortable, supported, and surrounded by the people who love her most.
We continue our daily routines and responsibilities, but life inside our home has become more emotional, more demanding, and at times, a bit chaotic. Some of you may have noticed that our Halloween decorations started to go up…and then simply stopped. We began decorating with every intention of finishing, but with everything happening behind the scenes, it quickly fell to the bottom of the priority list.
As we focus on Katie’s comfort and the needs of our family, our operating hours will begin to vary. There will be more and more days we are closed. We want to be transparent so our community understands that this shift is not permanent. It’s simply what we need right now as everything progresses.
We hope our friends, neighbors, and community understand that our priority is caring for Katie and keeping our home peaceful during this time. The decorations may be half‑done, the porch may look a little forgotten, and things may not be as polished as usual as our hearts and energy are exactly where they need to be.
Thank you for your kindness, patience, and understanding as we navigate this chapter. Your support means more than you know.
