Illahe Lodge

Illahe Lodge Step back in time at our fourth-generation family home and business. Illahe Lodge is our family's fourth-generation home and business. A.T. Thank you!

Far more than just providing meals and lodging, at Illahe Lodge we share life, stories, and history with our guests. The lodge was built in the late 1930s and early 1940s as my great-grandparents' retirement home. During construction, their friends and the folks that Grandpa Ernie and Grandma Florence had met while Grandpa was the caretaker at Jergen's Lodge (across the river from Foster Bar) star

ted talking about coming for extended vacations in the fall when the half-pounders were running. Jergens and Bill Keck had drilled the first oil wells on Signal Hill in California and financed the movie production studios' move to what is now Hollywood. My great-grandparents didn't have that kind of money so they knew that, if their friends were going to come, they were going to have to charge them. That is the story of how Illahe Lodge started. Initially called "Schneider's Lodge", the name was changed to Illahe Lodge when my grandparents and father bought the lodge from my great-grandparents. When people stay at Illahe Lodge, they are guests in our family's home. Illahe Lodge is our home, not "Animal House." We provide meals, our standard beverages, free refills, and lodging. Guests are welcome to bring their own alcoholic beverages, if desired. (We don't sell or serve alcohol.) We allow smoking (to***co only and no e-cigarettes) in designated areas outdoors. (Please bring your own, if that is desired as we don't sell to***co products.) Questions or want additional information? You can send us a note through this page or our website, but the best way to reach us is by telephone at 541-247-6111. If we don't answer, please leave a message.

June 8, 2026. The low temperature was 51°. The high temperature was 64°.

It was a rainy day so I made some chicken and vegetable soup. Some of our friends know that we grow some pretty awesome tomatoes. They were the base of tonight's soup. [An aside... There are a lot of "tips" on Facebook that aren't especially helpful (and may not even work). A few years ago, I found a tomato tip on Facebook that has worked well for me (and for some of my friends that I've shared it with). The tip is to freeze the tomatoes whole with the peel on. When you want to use the tomatoes for cooking and need to peel the tomato, pull the tomato out of the freezer and immediately put it under hot water. The skin comes off very easily.] In addition to chicken and tomato, the soup had corn, carrots, potatoes, and rice.

My main project today was a trip to Gold Beach to get my father's glasses repaired and some supplies for the lodge.

When I got back, I repaired a couple holes in the waterline for the irrigation system.

My project this morning was to finish cutting the grass near the shop. This afternoon, Dan - the local handyman - came up to help me with some projects to make things a little easier for my father.

Our morning project was cutting grass along roads and around the shop.

Tri-County came by to service the water treatment system they installed last year. (Thank you!)
