Enjoy simple, clean accommodations on beautiful Lake Winyah in Alpena, Michigan. Our cottages are one, two and three bedrooms with bath. We do have some 14ft.

rator, dishes, cutlery, cookware, bed linen and blankets. We are located within a mile of a grocery store with live bait, and fishing licenses. Alpena, located seven miles away, offers great food, shopping, theaters, museums, churches and entertainment. Our cottages are fully furnished. Bedrooms have bedding provided, bathroom with shower, kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator, stove, dishes and cookware, microwave, coffeemaker, and toaster. We do not provide towels, so please be sure to bring your own. Each cottage has a private dock included in the rental price. row boats are available for customer use. Life jackets are available. We have a launching facility for customers bringing their boats. Each cottage has a fire pit and firewood is available for sale. We allow ONE dog per cabin with a $100 fee. We do ask that you please refer and adhere to our full pet policy which can be found on our website: www.wespointshores.com

And just like that, we are open! We're a couple of weeks late on the post, but with the blessed help of many good friends and Northern Valley Electrical Service, we were able to open on time, and fully running on May 1st.

We welcomed our first group, the guys from The Terrible Outdoorsman Podcast, and they had quite the weekend. Many pike over 30" with the winner at over 34 1/4".

We have had a couple of last minute cancellations, to include Memorial Day weekend. See our openings below and let us know if you want to take advantage of this rare availability! Reminder: we only take week-long reservations beginning the first Saturday after Memorial Day- weekend before Labor Day.

Hi All! Spring has sprung in an icy way! Like everyone in Northern Michigan, we are without power, but know that crews are working as hard as they can to safely return things to working order. All those beautiful trees that have shaded our property have had a considerable trim and we have a lot of lines down. Though we have some casualties, we have been spared considerable damage as it could have been much worse and most importantly, everyone is safe. We have lots of work to do to get ready for our guests on a regular year- this just adds a few more things to do:) If you have reached out via email or phone, we will get back to you as soon as as power and internet are restored! Until then, please keep our communities and utility workers in your prayers. Lots of hard working folks out there and we thank you!!

Happy New Year from Wes Point Shores and welcome to 2025! It’s hard to believe we are preparing for our 7th summer here as the owners of Wes Point Shores! What a blessing it has been and we look forward to welcoming you all back for the summer!

Wes Point Shores has been around for over 80 years and is steeped in much tradition. To the best of our knowledge, we are only the fifth owners of this lovely place. It was originally built back in the 1940’s by the West Family. Since then, many families have summered here and created traditions and memories passed on through the generations. We are thankful that all of you continue to make Wes Point Shores a part of your traditions.

It has always been our goal to provide a clean, affordable, safe, family-friendly environment for our customers, and that continues to be true!

Here’s the hard part—as we see in all aspects of our lives, costs are increasing, and we have not been immune to it. In fact, being transparent, we have seen some of our major costs increase by up to 300%. We have done our best to provide our customers the best experience possible, while trying to maintain its affordability. This is and will continue to be our goal.

Unfortunately, maintaining that same base level of operation and maintenance requires that we adjust our prices. In calculating our prices, we try to maintain rates that families can afford, while still being able to meet our obligations and maintenance costs. Please understand, we do not make a decision to raise rates without serious consideration.

To that end, for any reservations made after March 1, 2025, we will no longer be able to honor the promotion of “Stay for 7 nights/ pay for 6”. If you have an existing reservation—there is nothing to worry about, your reservation will still reflect the free night for the 2025 season.

Again, this is not a decision we take lightly, as our primary goal is to keep our doors open and allow your families the opportunity to continue making memories here at Wes Point Shores for years to come.

Our Story

Wes Point Shores Resort is located on Lake Winyah, part of the Thunder Bay River System. Nestled among tall Norway Pines, we offer peace and relaxation for the vacationer. Whether you're an avid fisherman, enjoy seeing wildlife in its natural surroundings, or just care to see one of our beautiful sunsets, we guarantee you a pleasant stay. Our cottages are one, two and three bedrooms with bath. They offer a fully equipped kitchen with stove, refrigerator, dishes, cutlery, cookware, bed linen and blankets. Please provide your own towels and dish/hand soap etc. Each cottage has a private dock with a 14ft boat included in the rental price. We do provide life jackets. We have launching facilities for customers bringing their boats. We have a fire pit at each cottage and firewood is available for purchase. We allow 1 dog but ask you keep them off the furniture, and keep them restrained when outside. Please call us for further questions.
