Behavior is often communication, especially when words become difficult.

Caregivers don't need to diagnose the cause. But you can notice the change, look for patterns, document what you observe, and share those details with the healthcare team.

And if you suspect a medication may be contributing, never stop or change it without speaking with the prescribing healthcare professional.

Sometimes, the most important question isn't “How do we stop this behavior?”
It’s “What is this person trying to tell us?”

One of the best compliments is knowing that our care partners can see the difference we're making. This review means so much to our entire team. Because exceptional memory care isn’t just about meeting needs, it’s about how we make people feel while we do it.

Respect. Patience. Kindness. Dignity.

And most importantly, genuine connection.

💜 September is World Alzheimer’s Month. 💜

This month, we remember that behind every diagnosis is a person with a lifetime of memories, relationships, stories, and moments that matter.

Alzheimer’s may change the way someone remembers, communicates, or experiences the world but it never changes their worth. ❤️

At Alpine View Lodge, we believe every resident deserves to be met with patience, compassion, dignity, and understanding.

This World Alzheimer’s Month, let’s:
✨ Learn more about Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia
✨ Support caregivers who give so much every day
✨ Practice patience and empathy
✨ Create moments of connection, even when words become difficult
✨ Remind families that they don't have to navigate this journey alone

Awareness creates understanding. Understanding creates compassion. And compassion changes lives. 💜

If your family is navigating Alzheimer’s or memory care, we’re here to help.

📩 Reach out to Alpine View Lodge to learn more about our memory care community and how we can support your loved one.

Kindness can look like the smallest things, a patient smile, a gentle touch, a listening ear, or simply taking the time to make someone feel seen.

Those little moments can mean everything. 🫶

Caregivers need care, too. ❤️

It means you care enough to protect your energy, your well-being, and the quality of care you give to others.

You’re allowed to say, “I need a break.”
You’re allowed to say, “This is too much.”
You’re allowed to ask for support.
Your need for rest doesn’t make you a bad caregiver.

Yesterday morning was filled with smiles, movement, and positive energy as our residents, staff, and caregivers came together for a fun exercise session! 🏃‍♀️🎶

Here’s to staying active, staying connected, and enjoying every moment together! 🌿✨

What if your brain has a hidden waste-removal system?

Scientists in South Korea may have uncovered an important piece of a 250-year-old mystery.

New research has identified tiny openings around the brain that appear to help drain cerebrospinal fluid toward the body’s lymphatic system.

Why does this matter? Researchers are exploring how the brain clears waste and whether disruptions in this process may play a role in conditions like Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases.

It’s not a treatment or cure, but it could be an important step toward better understanding the aging brain.

You’re not imagining it.

For some people living with dementia, the brain’s internal body clock can become disrupted. As evening approaches, they may have more difficulty understanding whether it’s time to sleep, wake up, eat, or get ready for the day.

This can lead to what caregivers often call sundowning: increased confusion, anxiety, agitation, or wakefulness later in the day.

Sometimes, understanding why the behavior is happening can help us respond with more patience, reassurance, and compassion.

🌙 Sunday Night Reminder

Take a deep breath.
You don’t have to have everything figured out tonight.

Let go of what didn’t go as planned.
Release the worries you can’t solve right now.
Give yourself permission to rest.

Tomorrow is a new beginning.
A fresh page.
Another chance to try again.

For tonight, just be still.
Your heart deserves a little peace.

Goodnight. May your mind be quiet, your heart be light, and your sleep be peaceful. ✨
