Welcome to the World, Little Ones!

It’s that time of year again at LMCH!

We’re excited to announce that the first fawns of the season have been spotted around camp. As spring turns to summer, keep your eyes open!! You may catch a glimpse of these adorable new arrivals exploring the forest with their mothers nearby.

Fawning season is one of the many reminders of how special it is to share this beautiful place with the wildlife that calls it home.

If you’re lucky enough to spot a fawn during your travels around camp, consider it a little Hideaway bonus.

Welcome to the newest members of our forest family!

🚨 Wildlife Alert at LMCH 🚨

This morning, a bear was reported just outside the gate on a neighboring property where it was tearing into a beehive. While wildlife sightings are a normal part of living and camping in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, this is a good reminder for everyone to stay alert and practice wildlife safety while in camp.

Please take a moment to review the attached wildlife safety information regarding bears, cougars, coyotes, bobcats, and deer. These animals are part of our environment, and most encounters can be avoided by being aware, making smart choices, and giving wildlife plenty of space.

A few important reminders:
🐻 If you encounter a black bear:
• Stay calm and do not run
• Make yourself look big
• Yell firmly and aggressively, like you’re shooing away a dog
• Slowly back away while giving the bear space
• If attacked by a black bear, fight back aggressively

🦌 Deer are generally not aggressive, but it is currently fawning season and mothers may become protective if they feel threatened.

⚠️ It is illegal to feed wildlife in Washington State.

🗑️ Please secure trash, food, coolers, and pet food
🐕 Keep pets supervised and leashed
👶 Keep children close, especially at dawn and dusk
📞 Please alert LMCH Management immediately if you encounter potentially dangerous wildlife in camp

Let’s all do our part to help keep both our members and our wildlife safe. Stay aware and enjoy the outdoors responsibly!
