Save the dates - because the sky is about to get busy!

September 6, before daybreak: the Moon passes just 3 degrees from Mars, close enough to fit both easily within a single binocular view.

September 8, before sunrise: the Moon hangs directly over Jupiter, the second brightest planet in our sky, now climbing higher every morning.

September 9: two things happen on the same day. A two-week window opens for viewing the Zodiacal Light before dawn, and Regulus, the bright heart of Leo the Lion, officially returns to visibility in the morning sky after months lost in the Sun's glare.

That is four distinct, verified events packed into a single five day stretch, each one requiring nothing more than a clear eastern horizon and a few minutes before your local sunrise.

We're throwing back this Thursday to a fun filled, cars well loved - making memories in Arnold, kind of weekend.

The Arnold Meadowmont Lodge had another successful group booking with the return of the Central Valley Corvettes - CVC club for the Annual Ebbetts Moose Lodge Car Show and Chili Cook-off, earlier this month.

The weekend kicked off with a catered dinner on our patio by El Vaquero Authentic Mexican Cuisine. We also celebrated a member's milestone birthday with a beautiful and delectable cake from Binky Buns Bakery. YUM!

On Saturday, the cars made their way to the show, set against the beautiful backdrop of White Pines Lake. Some members stayed back to enjoy the day on our patio playing card games and enjoying lunch delivered by Snowshoe Brewing Company.

Saturday evening, the club headed over to Bistro Espresso to enjoy live music and a mouth-watering BBQ dinner.

Once again, I am filled with gratitude for the memories and personal connections made while hosting groups at our lodge. - Til next time, Central Valley Corvette Club!

Happy National Dog Day from the Arnold Meadowmont Lodge!

Established in 2004, National Dog Day is celebrated every year on August 26 to honor all dogs and promote rescue and adoption.

How to Celebrate!

Adopt: Visit a local animal shelter to find a new pet. Raise awareness for shelter animals, celebrate working dogs, and discourage puppy mills.

Pamper: Give your dog a long walk, a special treat, or a new toy.

Support: Donate food, blankets, or money to a rescue group or local animal shelters.

Head to dog friendly Calaveras with your pup! Feel free to share a photo of your dog in the comments.
