🎉 Help us welcome Chef Marc Shapiro to the DoubleTree Austin family! 🎉
(Here we go again...!!!)

Marc brings more than 35 years of culinary experience (and a whole lot of heart) to our kitchen. Originally from Naples, Florida, he’s cooked everything from fine dining and pizza to barbecue and classic comfort food. Barbecue comfort food is his passion...you might even spot him tending the smoker in the middle of winter! 🥶😎

Marc is known for his incredible soups, including his award-winning B**r Cheese soup. 🥇🥇🥇 He’s won Taste of Mower County three out of the four times he’s entered a dish! His love of cooking doesn’t stop when his shift ends, either - he’ll still head home and make dinner. 😉

You may know Marc from Ol’ Barn, SuperFresh, or The Downtown Grill, where he most recently served as executive chef. And here’s a fun full-circle moment: Marc worked at this very property back in 2002, when it was the Holiday Inn, also as executive chef! 🤩

He’ll be joining our culinary team as a prep and banquet chef, partnering with Brad on events AND bringing his talents to Torge’s weekday lunches. We’re excited to welcome his recipes, energy, and personality to our growing DoubleTree family. I tell ya, people - we are leveling up over here in every way to give you ALL nothing but the best experience at every turn, and we are doing it all with the most genuine smile every day.

DoubleTree by Hilton is an active Chamber partner, participating in numerous events throughout the year and is deeply rooted in the local community. From providing meeting spaces for local nonprofits and supporting youth athletics to partnering with the Austin Bruins, the property serves as a true community gathering place.

Excellence in customer service is the cornerstone of their daily operations. During Hilton’s 2026 "Catch Me At My Best" campaign, team members received over 60 individual recognitions, and the property was voted Best of Mower County Hotel, while Torge’s Restaurant & Bar was named Best of Mower County Wings.

This exceptional guest care is mirrored by a strong internal workplace culture that has welcomed 26 new team members, established staff recognition programs, and restored Employee Appreciation Week.

Demonstrating an extraordinary level of local reinvestment, DoubleTree invested or committed over $1,500,000 in 2026 toward comprehensive property upgrades, including guest room and bathroom restorations, new conference center audio visual technology, upgraded bedding, and extensive enhancements to Torge's Restaurant & Bar.
