42ND STREET WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT UPDATE: CONTRACTOR BEGINS WORK TUESDAY

Avalon is conducting a major water system upgrade for the lagoons/42nd Street, west of Ocean Drive. South State started on test pits today along 42nd Street between Ocean Drive and Fifth Avenue, which will continue through tomorrow. They will wet tap the main at 42nd and Fourth tomorrow. No work on Thursday and Friday. They will return on Monday to begin installing water main down Fourth Avenue to the south of 42nd Street. For a comprehensive project update, visit avalonboro.net.

REMINDER: AVALON TRANSITIONS TO OFF-SEASON TRASH/RECYCLING COLLECTION SCHEDULE

A friendly reminder from the Avalon Department of Public Works. This week, Avalon transitions to once per week collection of trash and recyclables. Section #1 is collected Monday, Section #2 on Tuesday, and Section #3 on Wednesday. The Avalon Trash and Recycling Depot is open daily at Public Works if you visit during the weekend and wish to drop off your waste before your trip home. Remember, bagged recyclables will not be collected as the local processing facility does not accept plastic bags as a recycled product, thank you. Details: avalonboro.net.

AVALON BEACH PATROL POST-LABOR DAY COVERAGE SCHEDULE

Avalon residents, property owners, and visitors greatly appreciate the service provided by the Avalon Beach Patrol this summer. For the sixth consecutive summer, the Patrol was able to fully staff all guarded beaches from Memorial Day Saturday through today, Labor Day. We appreciate the dedication of the men and women who comprise the best beach patrol in New Jersey. Beaches will be unguarded Tuesday through Friday, September 8-11th. All beaches will be guarded Saturday and Sunday, September 12-13th. Thank you for your service, and we will see you next summer!

SUNDAY UPDATE: NEARLY 50,000 CUBIC YARDS OF SAND PLACED ON AVALON'S BEACHES IN 24 HOURS

Continued strong progress on Sunday on Avalon's beach fill project. As of Sunday morning, 134, 427 cubic yards of sand have been placed on the Avalon beach at 13th and 14th streets with a high of 47,152 placed on the beach Saturday alone. Those two beach paths continue to be closed but may reopen mid-week. It is possible that the 12th street beach may be filled Tuesday or Wednesday. All other beaches remain open in Avalon. Follow all instructions provided by the Avalon Beach Patrol.
