Stories under the oak tree...The Victoria Oak...let the children come to me
The loss of a loved one is the deepest pain. And the loss of a child is unimaginable. Pain so deep.
So is the story of The Victoria Oak.
A story of excitement...pain...healing.
God places people and places in your path for His purpose. During our "working years", while "the job" got us to a certain place and time, it was never the true purpose. There was always something greater He had in store for our growth...for His kingdom.
So was our time in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
God placed a young, "Aussie" couple in our path. A couple that became / are dear friends. A couple starting a family...expecting the arrival of their first child...a daughter...Victoria.
Unfortunately, Victoria would not take her first breath.
The deepest of pain. How does one heal from such suffering?
In a small way, 4Oaks Ranch became a place to get away from the pace of life at the time for us and the couple. And maybe healing. There was always something to do in those early days. Clearing mesquite trees, painting fence posts, etc. And those Aussie's are workers!
The Victoria Oak was the first "robles" dedicated to the "strong people" God has graced our lives. The first dedicated to our sweet Victoria. So, loved. So, missed.
I came upon this majestic post oak tree 12 years ago as I broke through a thicket of vines and brush. It had fought off the encroaching underbrush and preserved an open spot as its limbs reached for the skies. The strongest robles in the grove. A special robles.
So began the dedication of various oak trees on 4Oaks Ranch to the strong people in our lives. The Victoria oak is dedicated to the strength and healing of a young couple who love their daughter so much. To a little one so loved.
Occasionally, as we pass by the Victoria oak, we see the swing swaying in the Central Texas south wind. And our mind's eye knows a beautiful little blond hair girl is laughing and swinging in the gentle spring breeze. A little girl so loved.
Let the children come to me...
Post script...Victoria has a handsome brother and beautiful sister spreading joy in strength to others with their mom and dad down under today!
