Thanks to all who contributed to our effort on the part of the WI Wisconsin Bakers Association - WBA Foundation to the statewide member "Sweet Relief" effort to assist people in need after the EF3 tornado that swept devastation through a wide swath of Appleton and Menasha about a month ago. Proceeds will be distributed to the E WI Appleton Campus for assistance to those affected.

At our Sept. 6 BHCA Farmer's market we will have our usual bakery items, red plum pies, and pretzels for those who waited patiently over the last 3 weeks due to the fundraiser. A new specialty item is a Raspberry-Elderberry Shortbread Cookie frosted with Rasperry-Elderberry Frosting. These beauties are a cheerful color of pink and the cookie is designed to satisfy raspberry fans.

Come vist DC Kraut and Side Burns in the food court behind the Baileys Harbor Town Hall. The market begins at 9 and ends at 1 p.m. Mister Burns is vending at Marina Fest Saturday and Sunday. I will have open farm tours from 4-8 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

We have about 1000 lbs. of sauerkraut currently fermenting and anticipate having fresh raw kraut in about the next 2 weeks.

This week is the last week of the "Sweet Relief" Wisconsin Bakers Association - WBA Foundation fundraising efforts for Feeding America NE WI Appleton campus to assist with $$ needed for victims of the EF3 tornado earlier this month. The devastation was incredible as I saw it first hand this past week. My targeted items for 100% proceeds from the sale of them are Door County Cherry Bread and Chocolate-Double Chocolate Chip Cookies. I will have those in addition to many of our regular scratch bakery and foodie items. Kosher Garlic Dill Fridge Pickles are back on the menu, and the fresh plain and cherry kraut are fermenting as well as the spicy Fresno and Bolivian Bumpy type. Many thanks are extended to the overwhelming support for the "Sweet Relief" fundrasing efforts and our wonderful customers. Annie & Corey here on the farm.

A big thank you is extended to Sandy and Dessi for donating their time for the day to help me with last week's "Wisconsin Bakers Association - WBA Sweet Relief" statewide fundraising effort for the EF3 tornado victims in Appleton and Menasha WI. Customer turnout to support this effort was exceptional. We sold out of the 100% of proceeds from the sales items last week. This week our new featured items are Peanut Butter Cookies w/wo chocolate chips, and Protein Enriched Cinnamon-Rhubarb bread as our fundraiser. My last Sunday of our fundraising effort is August 30 at our Baileys Harbor, Door County farmers market from 9-1. We are located in the parking lot by the food trucks at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall. 100% of all proceeds will pass through the Wisconsin Bakers Association - WBA Foundation to the Appleton Campus of Feeding America to assist those in need of relief assistance. The thought of loosing your home and having nowhere to provide daily living needs even for a short while is stressful, much less having to start over from scratch to rebuild. We have relatives that were affected. Again, thank you all for your outpouring of support in our efforts here at Door County Kraut Co. to provide just a small portion of the overall needs.

Fresh Garlic Scape Pesto is available now in our "Little Store" here on the farm. Mister Burns and I also have a variety of kraut, brined fridge pickles, fresh Pico De Rhubarb salsa, smoked whitefish dips etc. as part of our cooler item selection. A selection of spicy and non-spicy jams, krauts along with the full compliment of 17+ hot sauces, salsa's, BBQ and A-2 White Cheddar Cheese in curds and blocks is also on the menu. Mister Burns and DC Kraut at the BHCA Sunday Farmer's Market in Baileys Harbor are now located on the southeast side of the Food Court in the parking lot behind the Town Hall. For those of you opining for custard rhubarb pie - note that the rhubarb plants are being good to us allowing me to make those pies again, and other rhubarb treats in addition to the tart cherry harvest. In addition to our customary scratch bakery goodies, our peanut butter cookies are on the menu as well. On Sunday's from 4 p.m.-8p.m. our farm, gardens and hiking trails are open for guests to explore.

Tart Cherries are in season! Custard Style Cherry Pies are on the forefront along with the traditional style. I had a lot of requests for many specific items for this week's menu from our customers. Their wishes are being fulfilled. I don't have the name of the lady that requested the Turtle version of Jewish Ann's Coffee Cake but I have it set aside as well as other special orders.
I am extending an apology to my farm partner, Mister Burns for missing his birthday last Sunday. We did spend quality time weeding in the garden that afternoon/evening which is relaxing. Fluger, Corey's cat joined us perhaps because cats like catnip, but did his best to supervise operations. Corey has done a wonderful job with the gardens. Garlic harvest is coming up and the produce is maturing

On Sunday July 19, Door County Kraut Co. and Mister Burns LLC are temporarily re-located at the Baileys Harbor, Door County Farmers Market due to the new sod conditions on the lawn. You will find us in the parking lot across from Papa B's and Cindy's Egg Rolls. I will have nutty buddies, frosted donuts and our usual compliment of scratch bakery items including Custard Style Cherry and Rhubarb pies, Cherry and Plain Fresh from the fermenting barrel Krauts, Daikon Radish and other fridge pickles, Mister Burns aged A-2 spicy cheddar cheese and samples of many of them. Visit our "Little Store" on the farm at 2604 Grove Rd. Open tours of our 80 acre farm are Sunday's from 4-8 p.m.

The 7-12-26 BH Farm Market is back on the street this week - giving the new sod time to rest. A new product from us - Fermented Fresh Cherry Sauerkraut is now available at the farm "Little Store", Main Street Market in Egg Harbor, and the farm markets we attend. In addition to our regular bakery items, Daikon Radish Pickles, Sweet/Sour w/ Onion, snappy Garlic Dill, Pico De Rhubarb Salsa, I will have soft pretzels, nutty buddies, and Door County Kraut Chocolate Cake with assorted frostings and toppings. If time permits, I will make yeast breads for the Ephraim market Monday due to hot temps. -chocolate dipped items scream out "Oooh I'm melting". Stop in at our farm Sundays from 4-8 for open house farm tours of the gardens and grounds.
A special shout out to Dave Merkle of Dave's Mowing and more for drilling the remaining 40 some holes to allow us to complete our deer farm supplied artistic cedar fence post install project and to Mister Burns and friend Desi for setting the posts in place during while I supported them with the skid steer. On to attaching the 1000's of feet of wire for the next phase. 🥰

DC Kraut/Mister Burns will feature at the Sunday, June 28 BHCA Farmers Market seasonal customer favorites, fresh Garlic Scape Pesto and Pico de Rhubarb (fresh rhubarb salsa) amd fresh sauerkraut. These products are made with our farm produce. In addition DC Kraut will have "Marie Antoinette's - a raspberry market style Napoleon and other customer scratch bakery favorites. Mister Burns will have a full compliment of his hot sauces, salsa's, BBQ's and novelty nosh. Our products are produced in our commercial kitchens on the farm. Visit our "Little Store" now open, and visit the farm on Sunday afternoons from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. for a closer connection to your food sources.
