Cherokee Marshal’s Office wants to wish everyone a Happy New Year!

Reminder Fireworks on normal days can only be shot from 10am to 9pm.

On New Years the time is extended to 1am.

Independence Day is Midnight.

Please be mindful of your pets and keep them safe. This is one of the busiest times of year for pets to get loose and run away.

Relative Humidities of 25 percent or less can be expected for 4 or more hours this afternoon into the evening. Winds will be east northeast at 10 to 15 mph in central Georgia with 5 to 10 mph in north Georgia. With dry fuels, high fire danger conditions can be expected. Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities concerning whether your may burn outdoors. If you do burn outside, use extreme caution.
A warning is issued when a hazardous weather or hydrologic event is occurring, imminent or likely.
A watch is used when the risk of a hazardous weather or hydrologic event has increased significantly, but its occurrence, location or timing is still uncertain.

-A Tropical Storm Warning has been extended slightly farther south and is now in effect for Bartow, Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Fannin, Floyd, Gilmer, Gordon, Haralson, Murray, Polk, Walker and Whitfield counties

-Carroll, Cherokee, Cobb, Douglas, Heard, Paulding, Pickens, and Troup counties, have been dropped from the previous Tropical Storm Watch

-A Flash Flood Watch has been extended slightly farther south and is now in effect for Dade, Walker, Catoosa, Whitfield, Murray, Fannin, Gilmer, Union, Towns, Chattooga, Gordon, Pickens, Dawson, Lumpkin, White, Floyd, Bartow, Cherokee, Forsyth, Hall, Banks, Polk, Paulding, Cobb, Haralson, Carroll, and Douglas counties
