Every year, without fail, the Serengeti and Masai Mara ecosystem reminds you how small you are - in the best possible way.
Seeing the Great Migration is one of those rare things that lives up to every expectation, when done right. Two million wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle moving across the plains in an ancient rhythm that has nothing to do with us and everything to do with grass, rain, and instinct. You sit in the vehicle and realize very quickly that you are the smallest thing out there.
These photos were taken by two of our Journey to Africa guests - Linnea on Safari in Tanzania, and Gladys & Ed in the Masai Mara - Asante sana all of you! We think they capture something we never tire of seeing. That feeling of leaning out over the plains with a thousand animals in front of you and thinking... I cannot believe I am here.
If the Migration is on your list, the time to plan is now. The peak river crossings run July through October — but there is so much beyond the crossings. The calving season from December through March is completely magical and brutal.
Let's plan for 2027. Begin a conversation. We'd love to help you find your moment out there. 💫
