❄️ WILL BIG BEAR GET A LOT OF SNOW THIS WINTER? 🏔️

The 2026–27 Big Bear winter forecast is getting interesting.

NOAA is forecasting a very strong El Niño. That could mean plenty of Pacific moisture for Southern California — but more precipitation doesn’t necessarily mean more snow. Warmer storms can also mean higher snow levels.

So we looked at the numbers.

During three powerful El Niño winters, Big Bear Lake received approximately:

❄️ 116 inches — 1982–83
❄️ 77.5 inches — 1997–98
❄️ 48 inches — 2015–16

And last winter? Bear Mountain received only 51 inches of natural snow.

Our new Big Bear Winter Forecast looks at NOAA’s latest El Niño outlook, historical snowfall, Farmers’ Almanac, The Old Farmer’s Almanac and what all of this could mean for Big Bear in 2026–27.

Edgar’s Hideaway sits at approximately 7,200 feet in Upper Moonridge overlooking Bear Mountain — so we’ll also be watching one very important number this winter: the snow level.

Will Big Bear get buried?

Maybe. The moisture looks promising. The cold air is the wildcard.
