What is your favorite memory from traveling before smartphones?

Maybe it was sending postcards home from vacation. Maybe it was stopping at roadside attractions, spreading out a paper map, or taking a roll of film to be developed and waiting days to see your photos.

Travel used to be a little slower. A little less connected. And somehow, a little more memorable.

Postcards became wildly popular in the early 1900s because they offered a simple way to share a piece of your journey. Just a photo, a few handwritten words, and a stamp. The rest was left to the imagination.

At The Belvedere, we hope to bring back a bit of that feeling. A place where conversations matter more than notifications, where memories are made instead of posted, and where being present is part of the experience.

Before the walls went up… there was this.

Every detail of The Belvedere started on paper and in the minds of the people making it come to life.

Mapped out, measured, and imagined long before it came to life.

It’s one thing to see the plans…
it’s another to watch them become reality.

And the answer is… ✨ a kerosene lantern ✨

Before modern electricity was common, pieces like this lit homes, hallways, and late-night conversations.

In the 1920s, many buildings still relied on lanterns just like this, especially in coastal towns like Biloxi.

Simple. Functional. Essential.
And somehow… still beautiful.
