Just a 90-minute drive from Arizona’s southern gem of Tucson, a mere stone’s throw to caverns, historical sites, and the famous ghost town of Tombstone, Arizona—discover the unique charm of Bisbee. Once a copper mining boomtown known as The Queen of the Copper Camps, it is surrounded by rusty red ravines that cascade from the mineral rich Mule Mountains. Pristinely preserved Victorian-era architec

ture cradle this quaint Cochise County destination in the fabric of our nation’s early mining traditions. Yet, thanks to tasteful and respectful renovations, visitors can experience the past with all the modern day comforts of fine dining, eclectic shopping, sophisticated art galleries, and, of course, luxury accommodations.

Letson stories:

The Building That Wouldn’t Quit

Look closely at this photo of Main Street.

Streetcars are running.
Mines are booming.
Arizona isn’t even a state yet.

And standing right here in the center of the business district and bustle of early Bisbee is the Letson.

Built in 1904, the building witnessed events that shaped this remarkable town.
Just a few years later, disaster struck. Fire swept through downtown. Floodwaters followed.

Most buildings were lost.
The Letson remained.

For more than 120 years, The Letson has watched Bisbee reinvent itself time and again—from mining camp to boomtown, from near abandonment to the vibrant community we know and love today.

Most of our Letson guests see a beautifully restored historic hotel.

What they may not realize is that they’re staying in one of the most historic landmark buildings on Main Street.
In fact, The Letson Block has been a key player in Bisbee building back again and again.

The Letson has never "just survived."

She has endured, thrived, reimagined, restored and reopened - all while continuing to write the stories that connect her past to the present.

Every guest is part of our story that is still being written.

Bisbee is a lot of things including an escape from the summer heat. It’s 10 degrees cooler than Tucson, less than a two-hour drive away and once off I-10 in Benson, a lovely drive through some fairly beautiful country (especially as you get closer to the town). It is a place that will help desert dwellers get through the summer. Details at tucsonweekly.com/newsopinion/curr/keeping-cool-magic-art-lower-temps-await-visitors-in-bisbee.
