The North Dakota Parks and Recreation Department is the state agency charged with administering selected parks and recreation areas that are deemed to have state-wide or regional significance. In addition, the department has responsibility for the following functions:

* Off-highway vehicle planning and safety program
* Snowmobile safety programs and trails
* Nature Preserves Act
* Outdoor recreation grants and statewide recreation planning
* Little Missouri Scenic River Commission coordination
* Governor's Take Pride in America Program
* State Scenic Byways Program

One last weekend of frights! 👻 Haunted Fort wraps up this Friday and Saturday, Oct. 30-31, with Darkness Unleashed at Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park.

Join us tomorrow, Oct. 29, for a Trunk or Treat in Bismarck with area first responders. We will be at the Capitol mall loop from 5-7:30 p.m.

Then, catch Roscoe and the Cross Ranch State Park team at the Washburn Candy Caravan on Friday, Oct. 30, from 3:30-5:30 p.m.

What a month! It’s been an amazing fall, and our team deserves a shoutout.

Our parks have hosted some incredible events, park teams are hard at work transitioning operations as temperatures drop, and we’re already recruiting for next summer. We’ve attended trainings, connected with our communities, and continued finding ways to make North Dakota State Parks even better.

It’s rewarding to work alongside people who care so much about what they do. That passion shows up in the experiences we create and the places we care for.

Our team makes a difference, and our visitors feel it. A big thank you to everyone who makes it happen!
