⚠️ Campers in and visitors to northern Minnesota: Beginning at noon today, all campfires are banned on private and public land in Cook, Lake, Koochiching, and northern St. Louis counties, as well as all of George Washington State Forest and Scenic State Park in northeast Minnesota.
State parks affected are as follows:
–Bear Head Lake
–Cascade River
–Franz Jevne
–George H. Crosby Manitou
–Gooseberry Falls
–Grand Portage
–Judge CR Magney
–Lake Vermilion-Soudan Underground Mine
–McCarthy Beach
–Scenic
–Split Rock Lighthouse
–Temperance River
–Tettegouche
–All state waysides along the North Shore
If you have upcoming reservations at the state parks above, you will be contacted by email, so keep an eye on your inbox.
Campfire bans on all public and private lands are rare, reserved for times of intense wildfire risk, like we are experiencing now. These restrictions have been implemented to protect life and property.
