Short term rentals AND HOSTS can get a bad reputation…
Here’s the reality: STUFF WILL HAPPEN. Guests have this fear that they’ll get charged for every little thing.
As a host, I try to spend as much time laughing as I do stressing. (And that’s hard y’all because I’m like a professional stresser… just ask anyone who knows me!)
Yesterday we got a message from one of our favorite repeat guests about a broken bed. My first thought, “How did we not notice that?” Then we sprang to action.
Turns out this BIG bed frame was held together by the smallest screws! They were itty bitty.
I had the opportunity to meet the guest and with the handy dandy power tools I keep in the back of my car, less than $10 in new (much larger) screws, and a super helpful husband - we were back in business in no time.
We all laughed at the expectations placed on those tiny screws and congratulated them for holding up this long!
It all comes down to trust, easy communication, high expectation, and consistent performance.
Our guest is happy. We are happy. And the bed is much improved!
