Highway 76 construction begins Oct. 26
by Angie Roberts Harris

Traffic shifts, lane closures, and nearly two years of construction ahead for Branson’s entertainment district
For the next 20 months, Branson’s Highway 76 will have to serve two purposes at once: a major construction zone and the heart of the city’s entertainment industry.
With construction scheduled to begin Monday, Oct. 26, drivers can expect temporary lane closures, shifting traffic patterns, and equipment moving through one of the city’s busiest tourism corridors. City officials say one lane in each direction will remain open, and customers will continue to access businesses along the route.
The Branson Board of Aldermen recently approved a $29.1 million construction contract with Hartman & Company, Inc., for the next phase of the 76 Country Boulevard Streetscape Improvement Project. The work will stretch from Shepherd of the Hills Expressway toward the Branson Ferris Wheel, an area lined with theaters, attractions, restaurants, and hotels.

Trick or Treating will officially begin all across the landing at 5:00 p.m. and storefronts throughout the entire complex will be offering candy to costumed kids until 7:00 p.m. Kids of all ages are encouraged to come out and participate and the event is billed as a safer and family-friendly alternative to the traditional Halloween experience.
