Call it chance or serendipity, whatever it is - it left it’s mark on us last night.

Gorgeous weather and people reconnected in so many little ways, from all-girls camps in North Carolina to long-lost restaurant mentors, even someone we met at on the street last weekend. We passed a good time in our secret place, an old cottage under the oaks, for the what felt like the first time and deja vu from a sweet dream we once had.

Thank you to Chef for a stunning, thoughtful meal that truly held us in this moment. We loved having you here and can’t wait to support your next venture.

Merci Mille (thanks a thousand times) to our incomparable Secret Supper family, you know who you are. Without you it’s just another day on the swamp. The magic you amplify, carry, and embody while working your t**h off is humbling to experience. We love you. .biere

When Chef comes our way big smiles, gorgeous plates, accordion riffs, full cups, and belly laughs drift over the house naturally like a breeze through the oaks, like it took no effort at all. Like we’ve been doing this since 1840, like it was meant to be, will always be. The ease at which Chef Tyler and Kaiser execute such a dinner is stunning to behold, a masterclass in food and hospitality - like their late night caviar, foie, and tuna prep for a last round in the bar after a long day in the kitchen.

Cajun music legend and his son and protege Burke Riley played us beloved Cajun classics and even told a few secrets behind the rowdy songs we hold so dear.

Fresh life blew through the house on this night, an Easter dinner we’ll never forget. Thank you to our guests for being the absolute perfect, charming, lovely big-little family of ours. New and old friends coming together under the roof of this old Creole cottage will never fail to make our hearts beat a little faster, stronger. Merci Merci Merci.

We invited Chef for a little swamp vacation from his Chicago adventures in exchange for a Secret Supper. Instead, we received a generous gift of the heart. A love story on the plate, Chef Danny’s food is a culmination of his deep and earnest curiosity and enthusiasm for what we can only describe as life. We recognize that feeling. And it was clear as day when the guests arrived that afternoon that they felt it, too.

Thank you Chef Danny for sharing your tireless spirit for good food and true hospitality. We can’t wait to have you back in our neck of the woods.

Of course our usual suspects were here with wine, music, and raw to ease us into the night where we ended with a little zydeco in the bar…

We don’t normally do this... Two of our favorite people will be here this weekend and we don’t want you to miss it. Both legends in their industries, we wouldn’t trust anyone more with a Louisiana Saturday night. We’re in good hands to say the least…

The night before Easter at our house, Chef leaves to visit us in the swamp again. Last time it was all smiles, fall colors, underburgs, smokey fires and furs. This time we’re absolutely fiending for his spring menu (swipe to see for yourself). The house is vibrating with anticipation and the yard is bursting with migratory birdsongs, springy greens and flowers.

Legendary accordion, fiddle, and bons temps master is back with us and he’s bringing his protege and son, the youngest Mamou Pl***oy and the future of Cajun music, Burke Riley (highly anticipated album by C-4 comes out this year).

TONIGHT Chef is in the house all the way from Chicago with decades of culinary experience from Seattle to Sydney, New Orleans, Chicago and back in the boot again. And it’s a match made in Breaux Bridge - with a menu built for a southern Saturday in the swamp backed by Chef’s heart for local produce, seafood, foraging, and fermentation.

Cajun music storytellers and legends and are with us tonight playing our favorite songs to dance, stomp, sway, and cry to. Backed by our favorite salty farmer and paired gems from , we’re sure to wake up Sunday with stars in our eyes and a song in our heart.

Here and gone, our nights in the swamp are lovely and small as they are wild and intrepid. Still smiling ear to ear with lingering memories of last night’s Secret Supper with Chef Rob Tabone. Each plate, pour, and person played their part in the play of a new southern tradition - the sound of laughter, singing, accordion, and clinking glasses drifted from our house, bright with joy, into the quiet busy of the swamp at night. To the critters and trees, this is nothing new…but to the rest of the world it’s as if we were never here, a clandestine little party in the wilds of Louisiana.

Unfettered by weather, distance, and the night, we met in Secret under the oaks. We had a warming, home-is-where-the-heart-is meal by the man that brought us and , our friend and legend , paired pours from , a raw welcome wagon, and tunes by our friends and Cajun music stars .fontenot and . (Pizza from fed the staff in the bar at the late night)!
