I am so thankful that I was able to come to VT to visit my children and grandchildren.
Chet and I moved to Florida a month ago and 2 weeks later we(along with so many others) experienced Hurricane Ian. I feel like I have been in a state of shock since that day. Have never experienced anything like that- so much devastation and so much loss. It has affected me very much. I was having a hard time snapping out of my “funk” until today.
I remembered that what is so much more important in life is your family and friends including work friends.
There are some who lost their life from this storm and for that my heart breaks and my thoughts and prayers are with their family and friends-I am so so sorry for your loss.
The “stuff” that the rest of us have lost is devastating but we do have our lives which goes without saying but is way more important than any stuff. I feel blessed to be able to put life back in perspective again. I feel blessed to have such wonderful family and friends.
I feel so blessed to have a new job that I already absolutely LOVE even though I have only been there for a couple of weeks and only know a few people so far. I already feel so connected to our NICU because of all we went through during “Ian” while we were all working together completely as a team. It was absolutely amazing. And our director and manager, charge nurses, etc were by our side every step of the way. They NEVER lost their faith or their strength and worked WITH us - they remained positive the entire time.
I look forward to getting back to learn everyone and everything about our unit.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Thank you Alix, James, Nora & Shea Shea, thank you Christopher, thank you to all of our family in SC who we already miss very much, thank you to Deborah and Aunt Dottie for our early Christmas gift to help us rebuild some things, thank you to the rest of our family and friends from all around the country who have checked in on us numerous times and a special thanks to Chet and Robyn in FL who opened their house to us and gave us a place to stay when we were without some necessities and allowed us time to get some things done around the house - also all of their help with that including Sabrina, Emily and Brooklyn.
Thank you to all of the amazing workers in FL and from around the country who traveled so far to come help us(all of us affected). You are all amazing and wanted to give you a shout out for how amazing all of you are!!
Lastly one huge thank you to the Mormon community who came to our home and tarped our entire roof and spent an entire day with a group of about 25 people all with chainsaws in hand to cut up our huge banyan tree that we lost. They helped us without even knowing us and without any word of it - they just came and got the jobs done.
I will end this humbly feeling so grateful for how much I do have and how much I have grown through this entire experience.
Lots of love and peace to everyone especially those most affected with prayers that your lives will be rebuilt step by step and quickly!! 🙏❤️🙏
