Meet the Game Room at High Head.

Some rooms just dare you to have fun. At High Head, the game room is one of them — ping pong paddles at the ready, croquet mallets waiting in the corner, and a chess board set for the next match. Pine-paneled walls, window seats piled with indigo and kilim cushions, and nautical prints on the walls give it an effortless camp-cottage feel that is uniquely Maine.

Between matches, there’s a white plaster fireplace to gather around and cozy wicker chairs to sink into. A string of International Code of Signals flags above the couch has been quietly spelling out a message for years. Each flag represents a letter of the alphabet. Can you crack the code? 🚩

Discover Firefly, an open-air sleeping porch perched at the top of Overhead at High Head, where the Eggemoggin Reach sets the rhythm of your days. Tucked beneath soaring wood-beamed ceilings and open to the salt air, this dreamy retreat sleeps four, with one queen and two twin beds.

Weathered wood planks, exposed rafters, and stone walls give Firefly a rustic elegance and timeless character. It’s the kind of place that slows everything down the moment you step inside. Crisp navy quilts and classic striped pillows dress the beds, while warm sconce lighting casts a golden glow perfect for losing yourself in a book or simply doing nothing at all.

As the sun sets, let the ocean breeze drift through the screens and carry the day away with it. Fall asleep to the sound of the sea and wake to an endless view of the islands, reminding you this is exactly where you’re meant to be.

An escape this complete is rare and utterly unforgettable. Visit the link in our bio to injure.

The docks are in, and the islands are calling. There’s nothing quite like that first moment the float hits the water and the season begins. Eggemoggin Reach stretching out ahead, every rocky shore and spruce-tipped island waiting to be rediscovered. Each clear day is an invitation, each rising tide a reminder that the whole archipelago is out there, patient and wild, ready for whoever is willing to push off from the dock and go find it. ⚓

The green is back, the chairs are out, and the view is as good as ever. Spring at High Head feels like a deep breath after a long winter — quiet, golden, and just right. We wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Discover Chickadee. Wake up to morning light filtering through the treetops, birdsong drifting in from the coast, and the quiet luxury of a room that feels like it was made just for you.

The Chickadee bedroom at High Head’s Tower House is a sanctuary where every detail has been thoughtfully chosen: crisp linens on the king-sized bed, built-in bookshelves stocked with Maine reads, and the wood-paneled, vaulted ceiling that makes the space feel like something out of a dream. Peek through the curtains and catch a glimpse of the coast, then linger a little longer before the day calls you outside. And when you return sun-kissed from your adventures, a beautiful marble en-suite bathroom awaits. Simple. Serene. Unforgettable.

Chickadee is one of three bedrooms in the Tower House, each with its own character and charm.

Some views are simply timeless. For almost a century, High Head’s granite ledges have offered the finest perch on the Maine coast — and a front-row seat to the Eggemoggin Reach Regatta, where wooden hulls and billowing sails still cut through the same sparkling water.

The fashion may have changed. The magic, mercifully, has not.

Some towns appear on maps. Brooklin, Maine, appears in the American imagination. And High Head is part of its story.

Tucked onto the southern edge of the Blue Hill Peninsula — between Acadia and Midcoast Maine — this village of fewer than 850 year-round residents has shaped American letters, seamanship, and craft in ways no ordinary small town can claim.

E.B. White wrote Charlotte’s Web and The Elements of Style from a boathouse studio overlooking the water here. His son Joel founded Brooklin Boat Yard, which still builds world-class wooden vessels a short distance from that same shore. WoodenBoat magazine and its beloved School have called Brooklin home since the 1970s. And every summer, an unlikely constellation of American writers quietly gathers here.

The scratch of a pen and the draw of a hand plane are equally honored in Brooklin. There’s nowhere else quite like it.

High Head is coming back to life, and you can hear it.

The ice is gone, and the water is waiting. There’s something about that first hint of spring out here — the smell of the pines, the sound of the tide — that makes winter feel like a distant memory.

We’ll be back on the water soon.
