When the natural sounds of the ride are too good.

There is nothing better than the sounds of a horse walking through tall grass or walking down a gravel road.

Brooke and I have been working on getting the horses ready for the guest season, mostly focusing on our green horses who were with a trainer for their 30 rides. We raid the county road yesterday to make sure the vehicles wouldn’t bother them… but like every new thing, they were perfect.

Moving the pairs to the next pasture and praying it holds out longer than we think it will.

The cows were so happy to be on green grass. We feed an extra two weeks of hay to try to let our pastures grow as much as possible.

It’s a stressful year. Water is tight for everyone. There’s no hay anywhere. We could really use some rain.

Branded our first round of calves today… it’s always such a huge mile stone after calving. I love seeing our babies one at a time and up close to see how they’re growing, take a round of notes for future replacements and w**d through the first round of bull calf cuts.

The live in lawn mowers! We added some goats this year to help with w**d control.
