The Standing Rock Game & Fish Big Game Lotteries are officially open today and will remain open through July 31, 2026. There are a few changes for this year’s drawings.

Opens: June 1, 2026
Closes: July 31, 2026

* 200 tags available
* $1,000 permit fee if drawn

🦌 Antelope

* 225 tags available
* $750 permit fee if drawn

🦌 Elk

Bull Elk

* 4 lottery tags available
* $5,000 permit fee if drawn

Bull Elk Auction

* 4 auction tags available
* Hunters can log into their profile and place bids through the auction system.

Cow Elk

* 8 lottery tags available
* $1,000 permit fee if drawn

Standing Rock Game & Fish – Big Game Lottery Update

At this time, Standing Rock Game & Fish is unable to provide information regarding the opening of the Big Game lottery for the upcoming season.

This delay is due to the absence of a quorum within the Game & Fish Commission, which is responsible for establishing season dates, tag allocations, and pricing. Until a quorum is reached and official decisions are made, no timeline can be confirmed.

We understand the importance of this information for hunters and appreciate your patience. Unfortunately, we are also unable to provide an estimated date for when the lottery will open at this time.

Further updates will be shared as soon as they become available.

We were contacted by John from Missouri regarding a buffalo shoot. Following a seven-day consideration period, John and his wife embarked on a trip to Rock Creek Local District. John's excursion proved successful, yielding this 🦬 bull. Upon arrival at the Four Directions Hunting Lodge, they settled into their cabin and took time to visit Standing Rock, appreciating its historical significance. Please join us in congratulating John on his buffalo shoot.

The Standing Rock Game & Fish 2026 Spring Turkey License ( https://gameandfish.standingrock.org/dates-and-fees/turkey-spring/ ) is now available for purchase! Prospective hunters are encouraged to book their accommodations in advance by calling 605-823-2326 to ensure availability. The 2026 season will commence with archery season on March 27, 2026, and conclude on May 24, 2026, while gun season will take place from April 10, 2026, to May 24, 2026.
