🍂 Sunday Stays at The Red Brick Inn 🍂

Sometimes, you look out at a familiar landscape and are reminded that it is never quite the same. It is always changing, revealing something new with each passing season.

This morning, fall was quietly rolling in across the water. A soft blanket of fog hovered over the lake, the sky was painted in the prettiest shades of pink and blue, and the trees were beginning to show off their autumn colors. It was one of those mornings that makes you want to slow down, pour another cup of coffee, and simply take it all in. 🤎

Inside, a cozy breakfast, a beautifully set table, and good conversation made for the sweetest kind of morning. We had the pleasure of hosting a wonderful girls’ getaway celebrating a birthday, and there is something so special about watching friends make memories together in a place filled with history, charm, and a little bit of magic.

As their weekend comes to a close, we hope they leave feeling refreshed, celebrated, and already dreaming about their next getaway.

The Historic Canton Hotel was built in the 1800s by Abraham Boyd, a beautiful building on the shore of Lake Barkley steeped in history

Today, it serves as a B&B in Cadiz, Kentucky and boasts a Tavern that once served as a Speakeasy during
Prohibition.

🐈‍⬛ MISSING SOMEONE’S SWEET BLACK KITTY? 🖤

This sweet baby showed up at our place in Cadiz tonight, wearing what looks like an old plastic flea collar. She is incredibly friendly and absolutely STARVING, so of course we had to feed her! ❤️

Is someone missing their little black kitty? We would love to find her family!

Unfortunately, we already have two cats on the property who don’t get along, so we can’t keep her long term.

🕰️✨ Stories from the Brick: A Tradition Worth Keeping✨🕰️

There is something special about a small town that knows how to celebrate its roots.

This weekend, Cadiz celebrates the 50th year of the Trigg County Country Ham Festival, a tradition that brings neighbors, visitors, and old friends together to celebrate the best of our community.

The festival began in 1977, honoring the agricultural heritage that helped shape Trigg County. And woven into that history is a name many of us know well: Broadbent.

Long before Hamfest began, Smith Broadbent was selling country ham, bacon, and sausage from his farm in Trigg County, beginning in 1909. Over the generations, Broadbent became a name synonymous with Kentucky country ham and traditional craftsmanship.

Today, that story is entering a new chapter with Josh Poling, the new owner of Broadbent's Country Hams, championing the brand's connection to its Trigg County roots and helping carry that legacy forward. It's a reminder that preserving history isn't just about looking back. It takes people willing to invest in what makes a place special and ensure those traditions have a future.

That kind of history means something to us.

At The Red Brick Inn and Boyd's Tavern, we believe food is about more than what's on the plate. It carries memories, connects generations, and tells the story of a place. That's why we're excited to begin incorporating more Broadbent products into our pork offerings at Boyd's Tavern. Supporting a Kentucky tradition with roots right here in our own backyard feels like a natural fit.

Before we had a set menu, we had a simple tradition: one unique meal each weekend, prepared for whoever pulled up a chair.

This Wednesday, October 7, we’re going back to those roots.

Introducing Return to Roots at Boyd’s Tavern—a different homemade supper every Wednesday, with the evening centered on food, friends, and family.

Our first supper is White Chicken Lasagna: creamy chicken, spinach, and mozzarella, served with Tavern salad and garlic bread. $15 per plate.

Call it date night. Call it the calm in the middle of the storm. Bring the family, catch up with a friend, or grab a quick bite before church.

No games. No flash. No frills. Just good, honest food in an intimate, old-world tavern setting—and a little time to enjoy the people across the table.

We’re making a limited batch. It’s here ’til it’s gone.

Yesterday, we had the joy of welcoming Hailee and her loved ones to the Red Brick Inn for a bridal shower inspired by the magic of the Shire. From the whimsical details and thoughtfully prepared bites to the intimate tablescapes and beautiful outdoor setting, every detail was designed to make the day feel special.

But one moment will stay with us long after the last plate was cleared.

Hailee came up to Joey and me and shared that this was something she had dreamed of since she was a little girl. To hear that, knowing we had the opportunity to help make a piece of that dream come true, was a reminder of why we love what we do.
