Life has been pretty good around the inn lately— blueberries ripening before our eyes, lobstermen getting their daily catch, and fresh coffee to start the day while Noodle protects the cleaning crew! This is unquestionably the way life should be!

Many of you know that I (Ellen) recently embarked on a research expedition from Bay of Islands, NZ to Nuku’alofa, Tonga— studying microplastics in the ocean.
With an educational background in marine science, and a life that still relies heavily on the commercial fishing industry (where I once worked, and where casey still does), the health and resilience of the ocean is incredibly important to us. We think about that constantly as we make decision for the inn. How can we assure our processes aren’t endangering our environment— but also how can we create an experience that naturally builds a love for and investment in the magical world that surrounds and supports us? From earth conscious cleaners to coffees to hygiene products— we are making a concerted effort to spend a little more to do a little better. When we work toward this collectively, we can build a future of resilience and beauty for generations to come. We think that’s worth it.

Happy 4th!! It’s a hot one— with what, 50 seconds of rain was that? I love this pic from a 4th past— Forest with his grandpa John. Because yes, we celebrate freedom and independence— but we also celebrate the pursuit of peace, the right to happiness, the path to whatever makes us feel like our best, most authentic self. We celebrate the right to belong, and believe, and be. We are not a perfect country, but how lucky we are to strive for one.
