Happy Labor Day from Capell House!
Today, we’re taking the day off and enjoying a little break, but we’re also grateful for all the hard work that goes into keeping this old house busy throughout the year.
From breakfasts and events to celebrations, guests, projects, and everything in between, there’s never a dull moment around here!
We appreciate everyone who supports Capell House and helps make all that labor worthwhile.

From a bowl full of muscadines to a glass on the front porch…
I’ve been playing with one of my favorite late summer ingredients lately: muscadines. I finally had enough to make something fun with them! Their sweet, wild flavor makes the most beautiful shrub and today we finally got to enjoy the results!
For our porch cocktail, I mixed the muscadine shrub with a little Prosecco and finished it with a sugared lemon peel. Sweet, tart, bubbly, and just fancy enough to make an ordinary evening feel like an occasion.

This morning, we had the pleasure of welcoming guests from Berlin to the Capell House breakfast table! 🇩🇪
For a little taste of Southern hospitality, breakfast included cornmeal waffles topped with warm baked peaches and maple syrup, savory breakfast sausage, and eggs gently baked in cream with fresh herbs.

When your favorite Minecraft fanatic has a birthday there is only one thing to do! Make a Minecraft inspired cookie cake. The cookie turned out pretty darn cute. The handwriting… well, let’s call it “rustic.” I am a chef, not a calligrapher 🤣
But it was made with love, and that’s what counts! 💚🍪🎮

🐾 Happy National Dog Day from Capell House! 🐾
Around here, we know that sometimes the best travel companion has four legs, a wagging tail, and absolutely no concept of personal space.
Capell House is pet-friendly, because we believe your furry family members deserve a getaway too! A few requirements and a small pet fee apply, but we’re always happy to welcome well-behaved pups and their people.
And of course, Poppy is here to remind everyone that National Dog Day is basically a national holiday in her honor.
