In 1970, 25¢ got you a pamphlet chocked-full of KOA campgrounds. In 2026, we still have our KOA Directory, guiding campers throughout North America. No need to send us a quarter, though - you can keep the change. 😉

Happy , campers!

This week, we're heading to the Hoosier State’s Land of 101 Lakes. This campground is a lakeside retreat, perfectly positioned off the longest road in the U.S. This is year-round camping at its finest, whether you're here to stay or just passing through.

The amenities list at this campground is long. Like, really long. We're talking four playgrounds, co****le, volleyball, and basketball. A pristine private sandy beach. A dock for fishing and boating. Even a fish cleaning station! You could easily spend your entire trip exploring what's available right onsite. And with hundreds of campsites to choose from, every type of camper finds their perfect spot. Pro tip: if you’re bringing your four-legged camper, be sure to check out this KOA’s Paw Pen Sites.

Need to venture off-property? The campground's namesake town is just 5 miles away. Plus, you're less than three hours from Chicago, Detroit, and Indianapolis, making this the ideal home base or convenient stopover for any road trip.

So... which KOA is this? Drop your best guess in the comments below! We'll reveal the answer tomorrow. Good luck!

While KOAs offer a consistent basecamp across North America, the landscapes surrounding them are entirely unique. Take, for instance, our northernmost and southernmost campgrounds.

Up near the Arctic Circle, Fairbanks / Chena River KOA in North Pole, Alaska, sits right along the Chena River. It’s the ultimate basecamp for spotting moose and eagles, exploring the tundra, and witnessing the breathtaking Aurora Borealis.

Travel nearly 5,000 miles southeast, and you’ll trade the tundra for paradise at the Sugarloaf Key / Key West KOA Resort in the Florida Keys. Here, warm ocean waters, sunny beaches, and iguanas take center stage.

North, South, East, or West, from the pine trees to the palms, there's a KOA waiting for you. ☺️⛺️🌲🌴

It's time for , campers!

Combine prehistoric finds with all the benefits of modern camping at this week's KOA. Strategically located near Route 191, this campground is the perfect pit stop for Western road trippers.

The campground's variety of RV sites accommodates everyone, from the van lifers to the motorhome enthusiasts. Choose from pull-thru, back-in, or KOA Patio sites and spend less time setting up and more time relaxing. No RV? No problem. Stay in a ultra-comfy Deluxe Cabin or a classic tent site.

The area is known for its abundance of dino finds. Under 20 miles away is Dinosaur National Monument, where you can see over 1,500 fossils on exposed cliff face. Other state parks in the area provide boating and fishing with views of dinosaur tracks along the way. After you've channeled your inner paleontologist, camp is a welcome respite. Challenge your fellow campers to a game of horseshoes or giant jenga, cool off in the pool, or take in a movie under the stars.

The question is - what KOA are we talking about? Comment your best guess below! The answer will be revealed in tomorrow's comments.

Try this delicious recipe as a great fall dessert. 😋

A favorite camping dessert in the fall when a warm slice of pie topped with vanilla ice cream really hits the spot! Ingredients: – 2 disposable pie pans – 1 refrigerated pie crust – 1 2/3 cups toasted pecans, roughly chopped – 2/3 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar – 2....

We love seeing Haywood County get the spotlight.

Asheville West KOA sits right on the edge of Haywood County, which makes us a great home base for exploring Waynesville, Maggie Valley, Canton, Lake Junaluska, and some of the prettiest outdoor spots in Western NC.

Take a look at this Our State guide for a few ideas to add to your next trip.

Maggie Valley, Waynesville, Clyde, Canton, and Lake Junaluska invite travelers to welcome a slower pace amid Blue Ridge views and mountain charm.

There’s more to October in the mountains than leaf peeping. It’s also elk rut season, and we know just the place for elk viewing: Cataloochee Valley.

Cataloochee Valley is our favorite fall day trip from Asheville West KOA. It's less than an hour away and far less crowded than hot spots like Cades Cove.

Elk regularly gather in the high-elevation meadows of Cataloochee. You can also explore historic settlement sites like the Palmer Chapel and the Caldwell House. It’s a great family-friendly fall outing. Just be sure to give the elk plenty of space and enjoy them from a distance.
