Ever walked past this iconic bell on the Washington Street Mall and wondered about its story?

This is the original ship’s bell from the S.S. Cape May, a WWII merchant vessel built in 1943. After decades of crossing the Atlantic and hauling cargo across the globe, the bell found its permanent home right here in the heart of our favorite seaside town in 1974.

It’s more than just a photo op—it’s a piece of maritime history that has watched over Cape May for over 50 years! 🌊⚓️
