Farm Friday: John Haulk Corn 🌽
Inside the greenhouse at One Oak Farm, Head Farmer Adam Smith and his team have begun processing this season’s John Haulk corn harvest.
Each ear is carefully dried for approximately one month before being processed for our beloved Herons grits, a tradition that has become an integral part of our culinary story.
A look back at where it all begins...
For 10 years, Chef Steven Devereaux Greene, Chef Spencer Thomson, and their families have gathered to plant this special corn by hand, passing along an appreciation for the land and the ingredients it provides to the next generation.
What began with our chefs tending the soil has grown into a culinary farm spanning more than three acres.
John Haulk corn carries a story of family tradition and how it has helped One Oak Farm grow into what it is today and into each experience at Herons.
