🔥 THIS IS MORE THAN A CHAIR. 🔥

Next Saturday, one very special piece will cross the auction block at the Keystone State Carving Event — and we hope our community will help us make it count.

In 2016, firefighter John Kennedy handcrafted this one-of-a-kind chair to honor the incredible courage of children battling cancer.

Every part of it has meaning.

🪵 Handcrafted from Eastern Red Cedar
🚒 The seat and back are woven from real FDNY fire hose from New York City
🪓 The crossed axes are accented in gold — the color of childhood cancer awareness
🎗️ And at its heart is the gold ribbon representing the children whose strength inspired John to build it

The chair was originally made for Duke University Hospital, but because it was constructed from real wood, the hospital was unable to put it on display.

So, nearly a decade later, this chair is getting another chance to fulfill the purpose for which it was created.

To help kids fighting cancer. ❤️

Next Saturday at 3:00 PM, this chair will be auctioned during our live wood carving auction, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting Care Camps Foundation.

Care Camps helps fund special pediatric oncology camps where children battling cancer — along with their siblings and families — can get away from hospitals and treatments, make friends, have adventures and, most importantly, just be kids.

And there’s something especially fitting about that happening right here at a campground.

We would love to see our community show up for this one.

One person will leave with an extraordinary, handcrafted piece with an incredible story behind it.

But a whole lot of kids could benefit from what we do with it.

Next week, our friends at Keystone State Carving will be putting on this event right in our back yard, quite literally! It will be a great time. We have a waiting list for camping spots, but it is open to the public. So stop on by!!

Even in the middle of a busy workday, sometimes you get a little reminder to stop and look around. ❤️

Summer is winding down way too quickly. Take the golf cart ride. Sit by the creek. Stay around the campfire a little longer. Enjoy the people you’re with.

The to-do list can wait a few minutes, and sometimes, the best moments aren’t the ones you were looking for!

Wow!!! That’s about all we can say after such an awesome weekend. The weather was perfect, the vibes were jolly, and we had so many amazing sites that fully understood the assignment!! Thank you to everyone who made this such a fun time!

A special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Claus, along with their power sleigh operator for making time for us during their off season!
