📡 From Early Detection to Coordinated Response 🧑🚒
Fire and smoke do not follow a simple script. That is why proactive protection starts with understanding the hazard and coordinating the building's response before an emergency.
Cathryn Wickerham recently spent time at SAFE Fire Detection in Monroe, North Carolina, for a Lunch and Learn focused on smoke migration and the unpredictable behavior of fire. A live demonstration gave the room a direct look at how quickly conditions can change.
Fire marshals, building owners, students, and emerging fire protection professionals joined the conversation. Together, the group explored how detection can connect with approved fire alarm interfaces and other building systems to support a coordinated response focused on occupant protection.
The most valuable takeaway was simple: detection is not the end of the strategy. Good outcomes depend on early coordination, clear sequences, proper testing, and a shared understanding of how each system is expected to respond.
Thank you to Safe Fire Detection and everyone who contributed questions, experience, and perspective.
