Celebrating stewardship on Arbor Day! A tree fell in our yard earlier this month, but thanks to the help of our friend Fletcher, we were able to transform it into a valuable resource. Instead of planting a new tree, we're repurposing the wood to create a barrier for our raised bed garden, which will gradually decompose and become a nutrient-rich part of the soil as a hugelkultur bed.

This card and note rose to the top of one of "those" piles. You know the type that sits on your desk asking to be filed, saved, or otherwise be dealt with.

A lovely guest stayed with us several times over a few months to visit her family on our street.

Afterwards, she sent us this...

the space to spend the evening as I wish. The beds
are comfortable, the linens are fresh, the kitchen is well supplied (and includes yummy organic food items), and the bathroom is sparkling clean.

As you know, I often stay in the Blue Ridge room, a cozy place to curl up with a good book. It is also dark and quiet for sleeping.
