Camp Albemarle is having its annual Spring Open House on Sunday, April 21st. Please join us any time from 1 to 4 p.m. to see the facility, enjoy the river, or take a walk along the river. All ages are welcome with activities for children!

Since 1941, the 14-acre camp along the Moormans River in Free Union has been an ideal area outdoors destination, with Hamner Lodge, picnic pavilion, cabins, and fields along the river. The camp is now available year-round for local educational, recreational, and social groups to commune with and enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings.

We are excited to share some news. Historically Camp Albemarle has been closed from November 15 to April 1 due to the lack of heat to protect the plumbing. Now we have a plan to winterize Hamner Lodge. A generous gift from Bama Works Fund has given us a head start on fund raising. We also have a matching gift donor for up to $5000. We are nearly at our goal to make this a reality. Please consider making a donation. We can start making full use of Camp Albemarle all year round. You can donate here:

Excited to be partnering with this group and making using of the Camp during Winter.

Happy New Year!!! Not a moment too soon. Excited to start a new session of Nature Passport - new home base at Camp Albemarle, but will have regular field trips to area parks as well.
Please pass along to anyone looking to get their kids/ grandkids outside w/ other kids in a safe way. Thanks in advance :)

Camp Albemarle has hosted the 4th graders from the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County for several years. These children learn about the importance of clean water, and the conservation of Chesapeake Bay all while having fun. Many teachers tell us that when children look back on their school year, they recall their visit to Camp Albemarle as the fondest memory of the year. We certainly miss the children during these difficult times. So, we are allowing families and educational groups or “pods” to use Camp Albemarle as a place to learn, recharge and have fun in a natural environment free of charge. But you must have a reservation. Reservations can be made here.http://campalbemarleva.org/reservations

To assist you in your visit, a group of Rivanna Master Naturalists and local educators have created a guide to help you enjoy the Camp. There is fun for all ages. The Camp is available for you to visit in two or four hour time slots, Monday through Thursday. The bath houses will be open but not the Lodge. The Camp closes for the season around November 15.
