As we head into ENERI Birth Month in the coming week (the company turns 26 in October), yours woke to some sad news about the passing of community leader Nick Bannapradist, of the Thai American community. His family member (daughter Ann) wrote on facebook about her “visibly healthy and vibrant” father returning Labor Day weekend from a golf trip with severe shortness of breath. Later on, there was respiratory failure, after a likely virus.
This all made me recollect all the times Nick has been supportive of many community events, including many ENERI initiatives, over these many years.
My personal notes say that I first met Nick in January 2003 via AACC (Asian American Coalition of Chicago Lunar New Year Celebration planning) community work, through his nephew Hon Bannapradist. Nick and Hon were often together at our many Asian Pacific American events throughout the last 23 years I’ve known him.
Nick was past president of the Thai Association of Chicago and wife Orachorn Nannar, past president of the Thai Nurses, among many other roles.
Hon Bannapradist is the wonderful graphic designer on ENERI’s first book, “Everyday Inspirations for Mindful Living,” which model was utilized in subsequent editions in the ENERI book series. Had gotten to know his work also via AACC program books.
Always such a joy to see Nick and Hon at AACC, Thai community and other events .
Many thanks to Nick and his family for their generosity to the community, throughout these many years.
Nick, your life was a Hole-In-One! And we know the Fairways of Heaven are welcoming you.
R.I.P. Nick Bannapradist
