In honor of Labor Day weekend, also known as “Rodeo Weekend” here in the cove for Kensington Rodeo… let’s take it back to 1952 when the first Rodeo made its way here to Walker County, GA taking place right here at Mountain Cove Farms!! Bringing in thousands of people…and livestock from afar! Now many of these cowboys and cow girls come back for the Mountain Cove Rodeo Reunion held in the Show Barn on Labor Day weekend!! We love to hear old rodeo stories- and there will be lots of old ones shared and new ones made this weekend! 🤠

We had a great time Monday learning more highlights of Mountain Cove Farms history! We want to thank Jennie Chandler and the community involved for organizing the event! We heard from people who grew up on the farm- Charlotte Bible Wardlaw, Maurice Shattuck and Jake Everett.. all enlightened us on their time spent here at Mountain Cove Farms growing up! There was a lot of history to cover- watch for another “Lunch & Chat” event for Mountain Cove Farms- especially the “Rodeo Days”!

There has been a wide variety of cool events held here at Mountain Cove Farms over the past.. Everything from the 150th Battle of Chickamauga reenactment to the Walker County Fair to Vintage Market Days to the Forever Bluegrass festival!! Sharing some memories here….
