Aurora was shining bright at Holiday Cottages last night, 11/11/25 ~7:00PM.
I guess you get to see a bit of everything on Chincoteague: Beach, ponies, rockets, wildlife, & AURORAS!

BEACH WILL REMAIN OPEN! 🙏 During Government Shutdown, Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge & Assateague Island National Seashore will remain open. (Sources: Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce & Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge)

The gates to the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge will remain open during normal operating hours (6am-8pm) for the duration of the Government shutdown, allowing access to all trails, the beach, and planned activities. The Bateman Center, Tom's Cove Visitor Center, and Assateague Lighthouse will be closed. Trailhead restrooms will be closed but beach restrooms will remain open.

We love some rockets!

A NASA sounding rocket will carry student experiments to suborbital space for the RockSatX mission. The launch is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 12, with the window opening at 6 a.m. through 9 a.m. EDT. Livestream will begin on the Wallops YouTube channel 15 minutes before scheduled launch time.

For those on the Delmarva Peninsula, weather permitting, you may catch a glimpse of the rocket in the sky. The Wallops Visitor Center will open at 5 a.m. for launch viewing.
