So we put this Lemon Blueberry Cake in as a Gotcha! We trained a former teen employee to help make this from-scratch delicious dessert that is a customer favorite!
WANTED: High School students, ages 16 and older, to train as restaurant support staff in Runner/Busser and Expeditor(Expo) positions. Our restaurant is only open at this time on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 5-9pm. These hours will not interfere with school nights, but extracurricular activities, which we encourage and happily work schedules around school life(band, sports).
We definitely believe that your student's #1 job should be their school, with their main emphasis on Academics! To that end, we expect students to maintain a B minimum GPA, and our management wants to see their grades so that we know that the job is not interfering with studies. As employers of teens ourselves, you should know that we, as parents set this same standard when raising our own teenagers, and actually had our son drop the donut shop job for a time until he brought up his C in Algebra so that he could succeed in school. We most definitely had the support of his then employer.
We encourage teens to apply and work on our Team, who are:
1. Self-motivated-Learn the tasks and do them. We don't need to chase you down in another part of the restaurant when you should be in the kitchen getting ready for the shift.
2. Team players-runners and expos support our servers and kitchen staff
3. Teachable-willing to learn new things, including some food prep skills
4. Respectful-No foul language, or rude attitudes are tolerated
5. Prompt-being on time is important
6. Careful-restaurant kitchens have dangerous things like knives, stoves, ovens, so you need to pay attention and be careful so that you don't hurt yourself or others.
Your teen will be told to put their cell phones off and away because these devices are not required or their jobs, believe it or not! Also, these devices are full of germs and other yuck that are incompatible with food preparation. Speaking of food preparation, our hires will be expected to take Food Handler Certification training as a required part of their job. It is a State of NM requirement.
Please drop by the hotel for an application and feel free to message us if you have any questions or concerns. We would be happy to hear from you.
