Keep South Georgia and their First Responders in your prayers 🙏
Yesterday, the Georgia Forestry Commission responded to 8 new wildfires, burning 54.64 acres statewide.
This does not include:
• The Pineland Rd Fire, now at 32,573 acres and 39% contained
• The Highway 82 Fire, now at 22,532 acres and 37% contained
(Acreage has been slightly reduced due to more accurate mapping.)
Containment continues to improve on both fires, but they remain active and require ongoing response efforts.
⚠️ Safety Reminders:
➡️ Keep a safe distance from active fire areas so crews can operate effectively
➡️ 🚁 Do not fly drones—aircraft must have clear airspace
➡️ Be mindful of smoke impacts, especially when traveling
➡️ Stay alert for updates from local officials, including any changes to access or safety conditions
Conditions remain dry, and wildfire risk is still elevated across much of the state.
