Help with Google Maps to clear the closure posted for Highway 14-16-20 to the East Entrance to Yellowstone!

If you want to do something productive, EVERYBODY needs to get ahold of Google. All the other agencies got it right, except Google. Here is what you do:

1) Go to Google maps and click on Update Roads
2) Click on Other (bottom of list)
3) tap on the North Fork Highway and then at the bottom of your screen click on North Fork Highway.
4)click on Edit Entire Road and then select North Fork Highway
5) the next screen should show the entire North Fork Highway click Next
6) now there is text box, type in “the North Fork Highway is not closed” and or whatever else you want to share with Google.

The more people who report this the more likely this will be corrected with Google. They only respond when they get A Ton Of Complaints or corrections.

Thank you North Fork Community!

UPDATE-- 9:57 pm

The east entrance of Yellowstone national park is closed to outbound traffic. You can still enter the park if needed. Park Rangers are closing the road on the west side of the fire at this time.

The USFS is evacuating the Wapiti campground due to heavy smoke and the fire is approaching the highway. Please do not go up to the area. We will post further updates as we know them. Use caution if you are up there as there are numerous emergency vehicles on the highway. The Wyoming Highway Patrol will be closing the highway until further notice at the forest boundary.

(News Release) Most entrances and roads in Yellowstone National Park will be closed Nov. 1; Last day for visitors to enjoy most of the park will be Oct. 31

The West, South and East entrances and nearly all roads in Yellowstone will be closed to regular vehicle traffic Nov. 1. The park annually closes roads at this time of year to prepare them for the winter season and snowmobile and snowcoach travel, which will begin Dec. 15. The last day for visitors to drive most park roads will be Tuesday, Oct. 31.

The only roads open year-round are between the North Entrance in Gardiner, Montana, and the Northeast Entrance in Cooke City/Silver Gate, Montana (via Mammoth Hot Springs, Tower Junction and Lamar Valley).

Visitors planning to drive in the park during the fall and winter should:
▪ Prepare for changing weather conditions.
▪ Have flexible travel plans.
▪ Expect limited services. Check our Operating Dates webpage for details: https://www.nps.gov/yell/planyourvisit/operating-dates.htm
▪ Anticipate possible road closures due to inclement weather and dangerous driving conditions. Temporary travel restrictions or closures can occur at any time without notice.
