We had a great turn out for Coffee with the Chamber last Tuesday. We got to show off our beautiful inn to some really cool katz and offer up some fresh baked Polebridge sweets from their new location at Windmill Storage.

A big shout out to all the chamber members who attended and what business they represented. It was nice to meet everyone and would love for them to stop by anytime to advertise fun events for our guests or to show us off to prospective clients or further discussion. Thanks for the great time!

Rust and Remembrance

In fields where old trucks rust beneath the sun,
their paint now peeling like the tales they tell,
Forgotten roads where childhood days would run.
Each creak of metal speaks of races won,
Of laughter shared, and love that came to dwell,
In fields where old trucks rust beneath the sun.

They hold the whispers of a life begun,
In sunsets fading, casting memory’s spell,
Forgotten roads where childhood days would run.
The echoes haunt like melodies once sung,
In dreams where time and innocence rebel,
In fields where old trucks rust beneath the sun.
The dust of yesterdays, a burdened gun,
Each mile a story buried deep, like well,
Forgotten roads where childhood days would run.

Yet still they stand, their weary journey done,
And in their stillness, all our visions dwell—
In fields where old trucks rust beneath the sun,
Forgotten roads where childhood days would run.

The Mountain blue bird is bright blue with a white grey underbelly and stands out against their backdrops. The female is more mottled grey and brown. They hover while foraging plants and berries and tend to pounce on insects from above unlike the other birds in their family. They like open areas with a few trees and shrubs for perching and nesting. Usually at higher elevations in prairie and steppe environments, though they adapt well to agriculture and nesting boxes.

Many mountain blue birds will move to higher elevations during winter to secure prime breeding spots though this could put them in harm's way from freezing temperatures and reduced food supply. These are fun birds to watch and have around and programs are in place to help increase their population numbers. Pesticides and habitat reduction have affected their numbers like many other animals but there are ways to help with nesting boxes and reducing pesticide use to aid the recovery of this special bird.

“One, remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet.
Two, never give up work. Work gives you meaning and purpose and life is empty without it.
Three, if you are lucky enough to find love, remember it is there and don't throw it away.”

The Pretty shooting star (Dodecatheon/Primula pulchellum) shoots through the grass in late May and early July. These cute little bright pink flowers pop off the green grass in wet areas and if you don’t look closely for them they are easy to miss, because they are so small. They are part of the primrose family and can vary from magenta to white. There are multiple flowers that sprout from one stem with no leaves coming off. They pollinate in a slightly different way than most florals requiring specific vibrations to release its pollen. This makes the bees have to buzz a certain way in order to get their hard earned prize and bring it back to their hive. It’s fun to see these Pretty Shooting Stars on walks and appreciating the big punch they pack in such a tiny package. (Britannica)

Spring is the time bears are moving around hungry with possibly new cubs so take corners slow and loud.
