Skyline Guest Ranch

Skyline Guest Ranch Skyline Guest Ranch is located in Cooke City, Montana, in the heart of the Beartooth Mountains, just seven miles from Yellowstone National Park.

Skyline offers premium vacation packages, lodging accommodations, horseback riding, fishing, and camping! Nestled in the heart and soul of the Rocky Mountains, Skyline Guest Ranch provides easy access to the sights and wonders of Yellowstone National Park, the Beartooth Scenic Byway, and the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness. We operate as authorized concessionaires by permit of Yellowstone National P

ark and the Gallatin National Forest. In the fall of 2021, Luke and Lara Morris proudly assumed ownership of Skyline Guest Ranch, marking the fourth generation to steward this remarkable legacy. Lara's childhood memories are woven into the fabric of the ranch, making her connection deeply rooted. Lara's unwavering commitment, genuine kindness, and boundless generosity define the heart of the ranch. Without Lara's touch, Skyline Guest Ranch simply wouldn't be the same—a testament to her vision and hard work. Luke discovered his passion for the business in 1997 through his relationship with Lara. He quickly fell in love with the ranch, having big dreams of raising his family in the mountains of Montana, all while allowing others to experience the pure majesty right in our backyard. His dedication shines through as he enthusiastically shares the majesty of Montana with individuals and families.

Together, Luke and Lara, along with their children, invite you to experience the unique charm and warmth that sets Skyline Guest Ranch apart. Join us for an unforgettable journey into the heart of Montana!

A few snapshots from an unforgettable week at Cowgirl Cow Camp!

We spent our days horseback riding, gathering cattle, branding, enjoying massages, starting our mornings with yoga, sharing incredible camp meals, and making memories with an amazing group of women.

Thank you to every lady who joined us. The friendships, laughter, and experiences shared around camp made this week one to remember. We loved every minute of it and are so grateful for each of you!

There’s just something about music around the campfire.

When the horses are settled and the day winds down, we gather where generations always have, around the campfire.

After long days in the saddle and good meals from the chuckwagon, we gather close as the sun drops behind the hills. Stories get shared, songs get sung, some of us even dance, and somehow time slows down just a little.

Lookin’ forward to more heaven-sent days in the mountains of Montana! They’re coming soon. Who’s ready for summer?

A true gift with horses.

Raising and training horses is something so close to our hearts, and Colter was truly born with a special gift for it. The way he understands and teaches a horse is something special to watch, and Skyline is lucky to have many horses in our string that he has worked with.

Colter also runs his own business raising, training, and selling horses, and he has three horses consigned to the Historic in downtown Cody, Wyoming over Mother’s Day weekend. We are so excited for others to have the opportunity to own one of his horses.

If you want to follow along as he continues to produce incredible horses for the whole family, go give him a follow at

We are so proud of him!

When we see these peaks, we know we’re home!

Long before roads wound through these valleys and before our family ever settled here, Pilot and Index Peaks stood as silent sentinels over the Absaroka Range. In 1870, Ferdinand Hayden of the Washburn-Doane Expedition named Pilot Peak (left) for its role as a guidepost, a striking landmark used by miners and explorers to navigate the wild terrain on their way toward Yellowstone. Its name first appeared on an 1873 map and was officially recognized in 1937 by the United States Board on Geographic Names. Index Peak (right), standing close beside it, has always mirrored its companion, two sharp silhouettes marking the way through the frontier.

Today, Skyline Guest Ranch rests on the back side of Index Peak. It is the mountain that greets us each morning. For us, they are more than landmarks; they are symbols of belonging, anchoring generations of family history and hard work in this rugged country.

Every time we drive the Chief Joseph or Beartooth Highway and catch that first glimpse of these iconic peaks, there’s an undeniable sense of peace, belonging, and home. Just as they once guided early explorers through unknown terrain, they have become metaphorical guides for us, a reminder that no matter where life takes us, hope and home are never far, waiting right at the base of those mountains.
