🐛 A Little Sunshine in the Forest

Spotted around Cook Forest this time of year, the Yellow Woolly Bear is hard to miss with its fuzzy coat ranging from pale yellow to golden orange.

Despite its name, this little wanderer isn’t a bear at all. It’s the caterpillar of the Virginia tiger moth. And unlike some fuzzy caterpillars, Yellow Woolly Bears are not venomous or poisonous. Their tiny hairs can sometimes irritate sensitive skin, though, so they’re best admired without handling.

They feed on a variety of plants before eventually tucking themselves away and transforming into a beautiful white moth.

It’s one of those small reminders that there’s always something interesting to discover when you slow down and look closely in Cook Forest. 🌿

It's a simple celebration of peak summer flavor, paired with fresh basil, creamy mozzarella, and all the goodness this season has to offer.

As you dine, you'll also be surrounded by the beauty of locally grown floral arrangements from Farmhouse Flowers, adding one more touch of the season to your Gateway experience.
