Starting something new inevitably stretches your capacity. When we first acquired Gateway, those early years came with high risk and major challenges. In those times of exhaustion, at just the right time, a messenger of hope would appear. One day, a sculptor came to the lodge with these amazingly creative fish. He believed in what we were doing and wanted to contribute. And on top of that, he had major challenges himself as he had Parkinson’s. I had admiration for his courage to create and to be a man of hope. And he was just one of the sojourners along our path that reminded us that we are part of a bigger creation. So when I see his sculptures in the corner of our Great Room, they encourage me to never stop creating. I hope you don’t either. We have the power to infuse hope in others. Let’s not forget how powerful an encouraging action or word is to another.
